Aurochs Brewing 2012: A Year in Review

Well, it’s 2013, and the world is still around. Happy New Year! We think that this is a great time for us to reflect on what’s happened over the past year at the Aurochs Brewing Company, and look out into the future. It’s been a big year. Check it out:

The Beer: We officially selected our first beer offering, the Aurochs White Ale, a Belgian-style white ale made from untamed, naturally gluten-free ingredients like millet and quinoa. We’ve been improving the recipe for months and have been getting some really positive feedback! We’ll be making this beer available to all of you as soon as we  can!

The Brewery: We selected a location for our brewery, just outside downtown Pittsburgh on the Ohio River, in Emsworth, PA. The space is perfect: close to the city, easy to transport to and from, and large enough to give us room to grow. Our equipment is moved in and we’re already planning how we’d like to build out the interior (and how we want to expand). We’ll send out more info on this soon!

The Branding: With the help of the stellar design team at Unreal, we created what we consider to be a kickass logo, a fun website, and sleek packaging, all based around our commitment to bring you beers that honor the spirit of the Aurochs. Not as important as actually making the beer, but important nonetheless!

The Blog: We know that beer (and more specifically, gluten-free beer) is an important topic to many of you. That’s why we’re committed to bringing you high quality content and discussions on beer, brewing, new, and living gluten-free. We’ve posted on a wide range of topics over the past few months, and if you have the time, we encourage you to take a look.

The Behind-the-Scenes: Less publicly, we’re working every day on things that are less visible, but absolutely crucial to the success of the brewery. This includes raising money, getting licenses, meeting with distributors, talking to community members, reaching out to potential customers, and much more. Sparing the details, let’s just say everything’s going great, due primarily to our killer team and committed supporters!

The Brewers: We assembled a world-class team whose committed to making this dream a reality. Beyond the core team, we also built a strong network of “Honorary Brewers”: friends, family and mentors who’ve helped us along the way. Thank you all so much! We couldn’t do it without you! (But seriously, we literally would not be able to do this without all your support. It means so much to us.)

The Beyond: So what’s up next for 2013? Well, without giving too much away, we expect to get out beer our to tasting events in the next few weeks and and onto the shelves in the next few months. We’re gonna build out our brewing capacity as we go, to get beer to as many of you as we can as quickly as possible. We’ll refine a few more recipes and unveil a few more beers. We’ll sell swag, throw events, and try to get our beer in as many bars, restaurants, and distributors as possible. But most importantly, we’re gonna brew A LOT of beer!

It’s gonna be a lot of work, but boy is it gonna be fun. The Aurochs would approve.
